Everyone has an estate. It is comprised of everything you own— your car, home, other real estate, checking and savings accounts, investments, life insurance, furniture, and personal possessions. In addition, your estate plan should specify who can make decisions on your behalf (medical, financial, etc.) if you are unable to do so.
